While we are trying to stay safe and protecting ourselves from Covid-19, the other major challenge most of us are experiencing is the urge to binge eat or to do emotional eating. This is the period of test. A true test to our will power, our determination and focus. However, it’s not easy to sail through this bingeing habit. So here are a five ways you can keep yourself away from the binge eating urges.

1. Health is the priority:
This is exactly the period where we must stay highly protected instead of putting in junk options into our body. Therefore, bear in mind very strongly to binge on healthy options such as fruits, nuts, seeds, sauted vegetables etc. Try to stock or place these foods in places where you can see clearly and eat healthy whenever there is an urge.

2. Watch healthy to eat healthy:
Binge eating is directly proportional to binge watching, especially if what you are watching is about food. So even if you are hooked to the screen, try to watch more of workout videos, inspiring transformation stories, success stories and keep yourself away from the food advertisements.

3. Hydration is the key:
Stay more on fluids such as water, infused waters, fresh juices, herbal teas and concoctions so that you are hydrated well and also being full. Most often, including such beverages can curb the urge to eat more. Prefer to include more of warm or hot water as this can also help us stay protected this season.

4. Load up on vegetables:
Include a lot of vegetables in the form of soups, subzis, boiled and steamed vegetables etc. This will keep you away from adding too many calories. Make these interesting by incorporating herbs, pepper, ginger, garlic so that you are also working on enhancing your immunity.

5. Tame your mind:
Finally, as we all know, it’s the mind that needs to be tamed. Stay away from boredom eating by keeping yourself engaged in some meaningful and interesting activities such as learning a hobby, new language, enhancing your skill sets, connecting with old friends, working out, practicing yoga and meditating and more. The more you do something to stay peaceful, happy and content, the urge to binge will automatically go down.

So, during this temporary phase, lets try and keep ourselves healthy, fit and peaceful by understanding that nutrition cannot be compromised at any given situation. Lets try our best to stay nourished to the best extent possible.

Stay happy, stay healthy!!!
